To enhance a long life and optimal condition of your precious metal pieces, here are some care guidelines for your reference:

Sterling Silver / Copper / Mokume-gane

  • Wear the jewellery more often to avoid oxidation and blackening.

  • Use silver polishing cloth or toothpaste to wipe the surface to handle oxidized or blackened issues.

  • Normally sterling silver jewelleries can be wore with bath, water will not changed its colour.

  • Copper is easy to oxidise, please dry it after touch of water.

  • To prevent affection by chemical materials in water, please remove sterling silver jewellery before soaking in the hot spring or swimming.

  • Prevent direct contact with acidic substances, e.g.. perfumes, fragrances, vinegars, bleaches, etc.

  • Copper will change to reddish brown colour when it’s oxidised; to rose-gold-like colour when it touches more with skin. Oxide may leave on skin but not harmful. It will vanish after few days if the ring is off.

  • Copper may not be suitable for sensitive skin. You may choose silver or gold as replacement.

18K Gold / Platinum

  • 18k gold / Platinum have high hardness and NOT easy to oxidise. Suitable for everyday wear and touch with water.

  • Fingerprints and stains can be removed with gold polishing cloth or glasses cloth.

  • Strong acid or strong alkali may cause discolouration uneven colour of the jewellery.

  • Avoid contact with household essential concentrated detergent, bleach, etc.

  • Wearing gold jewellery with other metal jewellery might leave traces due to metal friction.

  • Please take off the jewellery before swimming and soaking in the hot spring.

  • We offer paid service of re-polishing, maintenance or size adjustment.

Pure Tin

  • Tin is a soft metal, in order to avoid deformation of the utensils, please avoid using hard object or applying too much pressure on the utensil while cleaning.

  • Pure tin utensils are intolerant to acid and alkaline, so they are not suitable for containing soda, lemon juice and vinegar.

  • Pure tin has a low melting point and boiling point. High or low temp. may destroyed it’s shape or appearance

    Recommended usage temperature: at room temperature /~20°C or slightly above/below

  • Do not store the utensils in refrigerator and avoid direct contact with fire.

  • Oxide would be formed on the surface of the pure tin utensils after long exposure to air, using baking soda and water that are mixed into toothpaste texture would help cleaning with the oxide, and brighten the surface.

Brass

  • Brass will naturally oxidise with changes in temperature and humidity. High humidity and temperature will accelerate the oxidation of copper, which make it in a darker colour.

  • Keep your piece in a dry place to maintain its good condition.

  • Do not wipe the surface with a rough brush.

  • Use a dry soft cloth to to clean the surface

  • For stains, you can use a cloth slightly damp to clean the surface.

Aluminium

  • Gently clean with water, and avoid using soap or other detergents.

  • To avoid damaging the surface of Aluminium alloy, do not use scouring pads with rough surfaces and avoid contact with sharp objects when cleaning.

  • The primary colour of the Aluminium alloy is silver, if the electroplating layer is accidentally scratched, the silver colour of the substrate may be exposed.

  • To prevent oxidation and discolouration due to moisture, wipe the surface dry immediately after each wash.

- Resize within ONE size larger or smaller - FREE
- Resize more than one size - Each time HK$200 per piece of jewellery

Processing Time: 3 to 4 days

How to apply this service:
Please leave your jewellery piece and contact in Cochrane Studio on
Tuesdays to Sundays 12:00-2:30pm or 4:00-7:00pm
and pick up your piece 4 days later
(Mondays OFF)

Example:
1) Original ring size 7 → size 8 or 6 FREE
2) Original ring size 7 → size 9 or 5 (adjust TWO sizes) HK$200
3) Original ring size 7 → size 13 (adjust six sizes) HK$200

Polishing Service

Each time HK$200 per piece of jewellery

  • Processing time: 3-5 days

  • Remarks:
    Professional jewellery polishing service restores shiny surface. Expertise in cleaning and polishing to remove tarnish, scratches, and buildup.

Silver Oxidation Service

Each time HK$80 per piece of jewellery

  • Processing time: 3-5 days

  • Remarks:
    Silverware naturally oxidises over time and becomes darken with extended use. To achieve an oxidation effect through chemical methods can instantly blacken the silverware. The resulting effect will vary depending on the conditions in which it is used.

Repair Service

Jewellery is out of shape, broken, lost of stone etc. each time HK$500+ per piece depending on situation. Feel free to contact us for a repair service.
