“Perhaps everyone comes to the world as a blank sheet of paper, but it will change with time and experience .”
Growing up in Tai Kok Tsui, Mr. Tso Hsi Shun (Mike) used to look at the Victoria Harbour through the windows of his classroom at Ming Kei College when he was a teenager. But later, reclamation began and the view of the Victoria Harbour disappeared from sight. At the same time, the smoke from the burning of garbage in the Fortune Garden reclamation caused his mind to drift away from his classroom. Turning into millennium, Olympian City has been located in Tai Kok Tsui, together with the neighboring Fu Tor Loy Shopping Centre, starry memories were made in TKT: chasing after girls, dating, dining at the Food Republic, bowling, meeting celebrity Andy Lau for the first time, the scene of he holding a Nokia 3310 cell phone is as fresh as everything just happened yesterday……
Mike selected the letter paper from Ming Kei College for us to turn into artworks. He believes that everyone comes into the world as a blank sheet of paper, and it is memories that enrich the blank sheet of paper. Throughout his story, many important moments have been associated with Tai Kok Tsui: from the Fu Tor Loy Shopping Centre where he hung out after school, the Bowling Alley in Olympian City when he was in a relationship, to his current business as a teahouse, all of which are testament to the community's changes. Spaces once existed have gradually been forgotten by time, fading out of the windows and becoming blank sheets of paper. The only thing that connects everything is the memory of the people who lived in this era.
The work constructs a five-dimensional space, traveling through different time periods in Mike's life, connecting three scenes that he has experienced in Tai Kok Tsui.
